Air Bathtubs

What are Air Tubs?

An air bath tub, also known as an air tub or air bathtub, is a type of installation where air jets are strategically placed within the tub to create a soothing and invigorating bathing experience. These air tubs utilize an air blower to generate a gentle stream of bubbles, which creates a massaging effect on the body. The air jets in air bath tubs provide a therapeutic and relaxing experience, allowing you to enjoy a luxurious and revitalizing bath.

Air tubs, also known as air baths or air-jetted tubs, are a type of bathtubs equipped with built-in air jets. These jets release streams of warm air into the water, creating a soothing and therapeutic massage experience. Unlike traditional bathtubs, which rely on immersion for relaxation, air tubs use air jets to enhance relaxation and hydrotherapy.

Air tubs offer numerous benefits, such as:

  • Hydrotherapy: The gentle massage from the air jets helps alleviate muscle tension and improves blood circulation.
  • Relaxation: The bubbling sensation promotes relaxation and stress relief, enhancing your bathing experience.
  • Pain Relief: Air tubs can be beneficial for individuals with sore muscles, arthritis, or joint pain.
  • Aromatherapy compatibility: Many air tubs are designed to support aromatherapy, enhancing relaxation with scents.
  • Ease of Cleaning: Air tubs often have self-drying features, preventing mold and bacteria growth.

When selecting an air tub, consider the following factors:

  • Size and Dimensions: Ensure it fits your bathroom space and accommodates your desired bathing experience.
  • Air Jet Configuration: Check the placement and number of air jets for optimal coverage and massage effect.
  • Material and Durability: Look for high-quality materials like acrylic or fiberglass for long-lasting performance.
  • Additional Features: Some air tubs may offer extras such as chromotherapy (color therapy) or heated surfaces.
  • Installation Requirements: Confirm if the tub requires special plumbing or electrical considerations.

To maintain your air tub and keep it clean, follow these tips:

  • Regular Cleaning: After each use, rinse the tub with warm water to remove soap and residue.
  • Deep Cleaning: Periodically use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner to clean the surfaces and air jets.
  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Refrain from using harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbers that could damage the tub's finish.
  • Air Dry: Allow the air tub to dry after each use, preventing mold or bacterial growth in the jet lines.
  • Manufacturer Guidelines: Follow the specific maintenance instructions provided by the tub's manufacturer.

Air tubs are generally safe and beneficial for most people. However, certain individuals should exercise caution, such as:

  • Pregnant Women: Consult with a healthcare professional before using air tubs during pregnancy.
  • People with Medical Conditions: Individuals with heart conditions or certain medical issues should seek medical advice before using air tubs.
  • Children: Supervise young children in the tub to prevent accidents or misuse of the air jets.

If you're unsure about the size of bathtub that will best fit your space, our bathtub buying guide can help you make an informed decision.

The weight of a bathtub varies based on size and material:

  • Acrylic: Typically less than 200 lbs.
  • Cast Iron: Usually less than 400 lbs.
  • Copper: Generally less than 250 lbs.
  • Natural Wood: Normally less than 400 lbs.
  • Resin: Typically less than 400 lbs.

Normally the floor joists are strong enough to carry the weight of a bathtub. If you are installing an exceptionally large bathtub it is recommended you seek the advice of a contractor.

Bathtubs typically range from 48” to 72” in length, with a common size being around 60”.

Bathtubs are a motor freight product and require delivery by a semi trailer. Motor freight deliveries will be a liftgate/curbside service meaning the shipment will be dropped at the edge of the driveway. The driver will not carry the item(s) onto the driveway or anywhere on your property, nor will it be brought inside (this is due to liability).

We recommend having help on-site to aid in transporting your goods. For more details on freight deliveries, you can visit our shipping information page.

Bathtubs typically ship within 1-2 business days from the time of the order. Air tubs normally ship within one week. Delivery time will depend on where you are located, but typically shipping time is 1 week or less.
