Unmatched Door Hardware Quality

Our door knockers are built from cast brass and bronze, alerting you of home visitors for many years to come.

The robust construction of brass and bronze helps them withstand outdoor elements, such as rain, snow, and sun exposure. Thanks to their corrosion-resistant properties, brass and bronze don’t decay and rust easily, making them excellent materials for door knockers.

Door Knockers FAQs

Bronze, solid brass, and cast iron are common door knocker materials.

Because of its versatility, brass has long been a popular choice for use in a front door knocker. Bronze has an antique look, while cast iron blends well with a country style.

Begin by determining where the door knocker will be placed on the front door. Mark the location for the holes or screws, and drill pilot holes. Place the door knocker on the outside, insert the long screws from the inside, and tighten. A hollow-core door may require different materials for mounting.

Among the most popular unique door knockers are the classic lion’s head, a simple ring design, and a knocker shaped like an urn. Anchors, gargoyles, and pineapples are other options. There are knockers inspired by the Victorian era or the Art Deco period, and others inspired by wildlife.

In general, the door knocker is placed between 4.5 feet and 5.5 feet from the ground. Think about the average eye-to-shoulder level for positioning it. However, consider factors like being accessible to kids or people with disabilities. The door design (like glass panels) may also impact placement.
