Couplings failed

When my plumber installed these supply lines, he looked skeptically at the couplings & warned me to manually shut off the valves in the basement between uses. I neglected to do this, however, and came home to an inch of water in my basement from the cold water supply line where the coupling had failed. The plumber is returning on Wednesday to install different couplings. Pretty valves. I would have been better off going with Home Depot & spray painting them to match the finish of the other fittings.
